Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park has been a favourite destination since 1932. Rainbow Springs offers a truly unique experience and is a must-see for anyone wanting to get to know New Zealand’s wonderful environment and animals, both during the day and at night.
Nature by Day– a world of wonder and inspiration
New Zealand is truly unique, from the wonder of our natural landscape to the huge array of wildlife, flora and fauna.
Get close to native kiwi birds and tuatara – the magnificent living dinosaurs – all nestled amongst a spectacular native bush setting with spring-fed pools full of rainbow trout.
Our adult kiwi are at home in the kiwi house which is a purpose built facility that mirrors natural conditions. Kiwi are active at night, (nocturnal) when they come out to forage and feed, so in order for you to see kiwi, our Kiwi House is dark during the day.
Nature by Night – an unforgettable sensory experience
Be spellbound by seeing kiwi under the stars in their open nocturnal habitat.
See pristine spring-fed pools full of trout, illuminated by 700 spectacularly coloured lights
Hear bustling native bush wildlife
Feel droplets of a crystal clear waterfall upon your skin
Experience rich, earthy smells of pristine native flora
Meet curious kea birds and our own living dinosaur – the magnificent Tuatara
One of the great new exhibits featured at night is the walk-through kiwi enclosure where you can view three of our kiwi on display in a glass-free open air environment.
