Kiwiway have carefully selected a range of preferred hotels in each region for all three categories offered, to ensure that you have an enjoyable and comfortable stay whilst travelling throughout New Zealand.
Kiwiway uses the terms ‘Standard’, ‘Superior’ and ‘First Class’ to describe the different levels of accommodation available to choose from, according to your budget and preferences. The international ‘star’ rating is used to give you an indication of levels of luxury and service you can expect at the various hotels throughout the country.
First Class Hotel
First Class are central city or resort location hotels at the top end of the scale rating 4 to 41/2 stars. All hotels at this level have excellent facilities, bars and restaurants etc, full services, and many feature swimming pool, spa baths, and fully equipped gymnasium for the enjoyment of guests.
Superior describes hotels in the 31/2 to 4-star category. More often than not, these will be centrally located and offering a wide range of services and facilities.
Standard is equivalent to a good 3-star tourist hotel. These hotels represent excellent value for money and usually have a licensed restaurant and bar on the premises.
Please find to the left our preferred hotels in each region for the three categories.
Accommodation is based on Run of House rooms unless otherwise stated. Seaview and lakeview rooms will incur a supplementary charge. If any of these properties are unavailable at the time of booking, similar accommodation will be provided and a surcharge may apply.
Kiwiway will endeavour to provide accommodation of a similar standard as requested, however as the choice of accommodation is limited in remote areas, we will use the best available options.
If you are an independent traveller who prefers to plan as you go while travelling around New Zealand, an accommodation pass is a great way to purchase good value accommodation.
Kiwiway are pleased to bring you Golden Chain Motel and Go Kiwi Hotel Passes. These have been specifically designed for the independent traveller and offer a wide range of accommodation throughout New Zealand.
Flexible options with these Pass products:
There are two main options with these passes and you may choose to use a mix of both:
Open Dated Vouchers
You simply purchase an open dated voucher from us for the number of nights you require. We will give you a directory to go with these vouchers, so all you need to do is call ahead to that property when you know where you would like to stay and make a reservation.
You are also able to upgrade from your vouchered accommodation to a higher room type or from Blue to Gold category if you like by paying a supplement outlined in the directory to the property direct (unfortunately there is no refund if you choose to 'downgrade').
Let us pre-book for you
At certain times of the year, many motels are heavily booked due to peak seasons (summer or ski) as well as local New Zealander's enjoying their own holidays! Therefore we do highly recommend you allow us to prebook your passes for you if you know your itinerary - especially from November to April and again any ski areas around July/August/September.
We can also just pre-book your first night if you prefer the comfort of knowing where you will be staying at the end of your long flight arrival into New Zealand!
Extend Your Stay
If you would like to linger longer in a particular area and add extra nights to your Package Touring itinerary, then use the below links to get your 'Extra night' rates for the Accommodation choice you have made. All these rates are per person per night and include breakfast, just like your package, and can easily be added to an existing location to extend your stay in that town.
You might also like to use these nightly rates with a rental car hire and some optional activities to create your own personalised itinerary!
Luxury Accommodation Choices
Kiwiway is pleased to offer a wide range of luxury accommodation choices. New Zealand does luxury accommodation so well and we are pleased to work with all operators in this sector - although we cannot have all the properties here for you to view, we have picked some of our favourites and placed them in 3 categories to help you choose:
'Simply the Best' - each luxury lodge is unique in its own right offering the best in location, service, quality and showcasing New Zealand's food and wine. All include breakfast and many include dinner either in the tariff or by pre-arrangement at a small additional cost.
Boutique Hotels/Bed and Breakfasts
We have many unique 5 star small hotels and home-hosted bed and breakfasts that offer exceptional service and quality. These all include breakfast daily and again, many do include dinner on request (for an additional charge).
