New Zealand

West Coast & Glacier Country

The West Coast is a wild and untamed place famous for its rivers, rainforests, glaciers and geological treasures.

The Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers are unique relics of the last ice age with mighty rivers of ice tumbling down valleys.  Flowing almost to sea level, these glaciers are among the most convenient to visit in the world with easy walks to the foot of the glaciers.  The terminal faces of both Fox Glacier and Franz Josef Glacier are just 5 kilometres from each township.

On a clear day the world-famous mirror lake, Lake Matheson, provides stunning views of New Zealand's highest peaks - Aoraki, Mt Cook and Mount Tasman.

Further up the coast, Punakaiki is famous for its Pancake Rocks.
